Female breeding buffaloes (female buffaloes) are female buffaloes selected for breeding and draft power. They need to have a healthy appearance, a well-proportioned body, well-developed udders, and a wide pelvis to facilitate pregnancy and childbirth. They can be local breeds (such as the Vietnamese native buffalo) or imported breeds. Criteria for selecting good breeding female buffaloes include good physical condition, large size (for example, mountain buffaloes over 300kg), deep and wide chest, round belly, and evenly spaced teats.
Characteristics of good breeding female buffaloes:
- Appearance: Large, strong, and well-proportioned body. Slender head and neck, broad chest, long back, and large, round belly.
- Reproductive organs: Well-developed udders, four evenly distributed teats, easy to nurse.
- Legs: Strong and sturdy, not bowed.
- Weight: The larger the better (for example: newborn > 22kg, 12 months old > 120kg).
