Red Angus cattle, also known as Australian or tiger cattle (because of their tiger-like appearance), are a beef breed originating from Scotland. This breed is a hybrid of the Angus breed. It is a low-cost, disease-resistant breed offering significant economic benefits to farmers.
Adult male Red Angus cattle can weigh up to 1 ton, with lean meat accounting for 70% of their body weight. They are known for their robust physique and health. They are typically hornless and produce a high meat yield. Newborn calves weigh 24-30 kg, and at 6 months old, they weigh 150-180 kg. Adult bulls weigh 800-1000 kg, while adult cows weigh 550-700 kg. Red Angus cattle are primarily known as a high-value fresh food and a high-quality beef. The meat is of good quality, with white marbling interspersed within the muscle fibers, resulting in tender meat with a very pleasant, rich flavor. Red Angus beef has a bright red color. Furthermore, Red Angus cattle have high reproductive rates, mature early, are easy to raise, and are well-suited to tropical soil conditions.
